Movie Review

The Pursuit of Happyness movie is a 2006 American biographical drama film directed by Gabriele Muccino and is set in San Francisco in 1981. The film is based on the true story of Chris Gardner's struggle to achieve his share of the American dream.

The story begins in 1981 with Chris Gardner and his small family. Chris Gardner, played by Will Smith, is a smart, tough, and hard-working salesman of bone-density scanner machines. But things don't go as planned. The financial instability increasingly erodes Gardner’s marriage, and his wife decides to leave. After she leaves, he tries to survive and fulfill the American dream with his five-year-old son Christopher, played by Will Smith’s real son Jaden.

Firstly, Smith and his real-life son Jaden bring emotional depth to the characters they play. Smith proves his acting talents in the films. He takes on the more serious role of Chris Gardner, a father who finds himself homeless and raising his young son on the streets of San Francisco. In addition, playing opposite his real-life son made it more natural. In the film, watching the two Smiths together, made the whole movie warmer and enjoyable.

Secondly, In the movie, there are a lot of life lessons incorporated in the film. And one of the things that Chris Gardner tells his son is my favorite parts "Don't ever let somebody tell you, you can't do something. Not even me. All right? You got a dream? You gotta protect it. People can't do something themselves, they want to tell you, you can't do it. You want something, go get it. Period." I think that this is really inspirational, and can be used for everyone in any situation. Chris Gardner displays a great deal of determination, humbleness, and always has a good disposition. These things stood out to me because personally, I do not think I would be able to obtain all of those qualities while going through such difficult situations. A positive attitude is different for many people but I believe that Chris Gardner is the perfect example of how to face challenges.

This movie is an inspirational film. It makes me think about a lot of things that I never considered before. Even though life is terrible, Chris never gives up. Because of his spirit, he succeeds in the end. It tells us a correct attitude is very important to our whole life. If we have a good attitude, we would succeed in the end. Having a goal is very important, Chris says, “If you have a dream, you must protect it. You also need to get it. ” It could make people know that we must have a goal because it is a way to make you succeed. There are a lot of truths in this story, and this is a bright spot in this movie. In my opinion, I think it is a classic movie that everyone can enjoy and I gave this movie 4.5 out of 5 stars.

5 Things to Know About Dr. Sylvia Earle

Can you imagine that we've taken and eaten more than 90 percent of the big fish in the sea? Let’s talk about the leading ocean protector Sylvia Earle, a marine biologist.  She is an Explorer-in-Residence at the National Geographic Society who was named one of Time magazine's "Heroes for the Planet." Sylvia has pioneered research on marine ecosystems, with a special focus on exploration, conservation, and the development of new technologies for effectively accessing the deep sea and other remote environments. Here are five things you should know about Dr. Sylvia Earle.   #1: She is a hero of the ocean.  Sylvia Earle is probably more at home under the sea than she is on dry land.  Actually, she spent more than 60 years exploring, protecting, and researching the world’s oceans. Sylvia has led more than a hundred expeditions, logged over 7,000 hours underwater, and has authored more than 190 scientific, technical, and popular publications. In 1998, she also got th...

3 apps and my life are inseparable! [Infographic]

Do you have any app that is really important to you? I do.. Firstly, Imagine living far away from your family and friends. An app named LINE is the best way to connect with them while also using lovely stickers to express your emotions. My dad is a shy person, he never said I love you to me, but by sending stickers I can feel his love without words.         Secondly, Did you know that Spotify had 130 million premium subscribers worldwide? I am one of them. I have been using this app for almost 6 years. We all understand the magical power of music and this app can bring that magic.       Third, some people might ask why Instagram? In my opinion, not all social media is the same. If Twitter is where we go to express our views and vent our frustrations, and Facebook is where we connect with friends and family, then Instagram is where we go to tell the story of our life and how we want it to b...
